The toughest TORTOUR to date

Lots of rain and fresh temperatures for the time of year made for particularly tough conditions this year. Nevertheless, most of the athletes did not shy away from the starting line in Küsnacht and fought their way through wind and weather towards the finish line.

‘In terms of the weather, it was one of the toughest events for me,’ says Joko Vogel, owner of TORTOUR. Particularly on Saturday night, exceptionally large amounts of rain came together and presented the participants with extraordinary challenges. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our staff, the TORTOUR could nevertheless be organised without interruption. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them once again for their commitment.

‘Out of a total of 500 kilometres, we had to ride 470 of them in the rain. But it was still very cool,’ says Jan van Berkel, a member of a 6-person charity team. And this statement runs through all the testimonials we heard. The exertions were particularly great this year, but in the end all participants were satisfied with the organisation and what they had achieved.

When asked whether the participants could imagine taking part in the TORTOUR again next year, the majority said, ‘I would be lying if I said no.’ With this in mind, we would like to thank everyone for their continued loyalty and are already looking forward to next year’s event. The next TORTOUR Ultracycling will take place on 10-12 July 2025.
