What drives someone to fully dedicate themselves to ultra cycling – in life and at work? Remo from WINFORCE takes us on a personal journey into the world of cycling, sharing goosebump moments in the Alps and his deep connection to TORTOUR. A conversation about endurance, emotions, and the power of pushing beyond your limits. In the spirit of TORTOUR: Be the hero of your story.
How did you get into cycling – and what does it mean to you today?
I’ve always been fascinated by cycling. But I really got into it through my work – through exchanges with professional cyclists and events like the Race Across America. Today, cycling is so much more than just a sport to me: it’s my outlet, a true escape from everyday life. When I’m on the bike, I feel free.
Is there a special moment on the bike you’ll never forget?
Absolutely! It was during a climb up the Grimsel Pass at a cycling event. I was completely exhausted – dead tired, fog everywhere, barely two meters of visibility, and already many kilometers in my legs. And suddenly, it hit me: my life is about to radically change – I’m going to be a father. That moment struck me deeply. I was moved to tears. It was a turning point in my life that I will never forget.
What fascinates you about events like TORTOUR – whether as a rider or a spectator?
Both roles inspire me. As a spectator, I follow the race closely via live ticker – the drama, the performance, the sheer willpower. And as a rider, it’s this feeling of being completely thrown back on yourself. You fight against the elements, go through crises – but those can turn around in an instant. That’s what’s so fascinating about ultra cycling: it’s a journey to your inner self.
How did your company come to support TORTOUR – and were you personally involved?
Ultra cycling is part of WINFORCE’s DNA. In 2006, Dani Weiss won the Race Across America. Our very first products were developed specifically for that kind of performance – including the ULTRA ENERGY COMPLEX, which was still a prototype at the time. Due to high demand, we later commercialized it. When TORTOUR was founded, we did everything we could to become a partner – because it was just the perfect fit.
Why is TORTOUR such a good match for your brand?
Simple: the spirit of TORTOUR reflects our core values. Perseverance, grit, getting back up again and again – all of that is embedded in ultra cycling. And that’s exactly what WINFORCE stands for. “Going the Distance” isn’t just a slogan – it’s our philosophy.
Whether as a rider, spectator, or partner – for Remo, ultra cycling is far more than just a sport. It’s a reflection of everything WINFORCE stands for: passion, endurance, and a firm belief that with perseverance, anything is possible. TORTOUR isn’t just a coincidence – it’s lived philosophy. Because as Remo shows us: those who face their story with courage become the heroes of it.
